Committee

Our Pre-School staff are supported by a well established committee of Trustees.  The committee is a mix of parents and community members.  While the Trustees are not directly involved in the day to day running of the Pre-School they are essential to both its legal running and charity status.

By law, we have to have a Trustee committee of at least 5 members– if the committee is incomplete the Pre-School cannot run. The Trustee committee is involved in the governance of the Pre-School by managing finances, managing employees, ensuring the safeguarding of children, planning for the future and to reflect the needs and wishes of parents. Usually, we meet once every half term.

Each year at the annual AGM (held in October) we elect a new committee for that academic year.

As a member of our committee it is necessary for you to hold a valid DBS certificate and an EY2 (we will help to guide you through this process of obtaining both of these, and reimburse the associated expenses.)

As  a committee we also discuss how to raise money and how to spend it! We discuss fundraising events such as discos, our Easter fair at pre-school, and stalls at the Christmas and Summer fairs at Whirley Primary School. We are also always open to new fundraising ideas!

As parents, we completely understand that it may be difficult to get to every meeting, or be able to help out at every event, however, every idea or offer of help is welcome at any point in the year.

Our current committee is:

Chair: Nicole Davies
Treasurer: Ellen Brown
Trustee: Katie Handley
Trustee: Debbie Shipp
Trustee: Jess Shipp
Trustee: Chris Wainer
Trustee: Ailsa Godden-Cano
Community Trustee: Dawn Cockburn
